Creating safer roadways to prevent fatal and injury crashes by strengthening the community’s approach to roadway safety

This is a Vision Statement for the Chikaming Township SS4A program. We’d like to hear your feedback!
“Chikaming Township envisions a future
where all roadway users can travel safely and comfortably.
By prioritizing well-designed infrastructure, equitable access, and community-driven solutions, we are committed to creating a connected Township. By investing in safer road design practices and improved connectivity, the roadway system will prioritize all users including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers while enhancing safety and community well-being.”

What is SS4A?
The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program is a discretionary grant initiative by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Its primary focus is to enhance roadway safety by reducing and eliminating serious injuries and fatal crashes. The program funds the development and implementation of comprehensive safety action plans. Eligible applicants for SS4A grants include cities, towns, counties, transit agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations, among others. Chikaming Township was selected to create a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan to be completed by July 2025.
